R&R Realty Group (R&R) announced today the launch of Spark Design, a new brand for the commercial real estate company’s in-house interior design team. As a division of R&R, Spark Design’s services are available to customers leasing space within the company’s portfolio of properties in both the Des Moines and Omaha markets.
“It’s unique for a commercial developer to have an in-house interior design firm,” said R&R Realty Group President, Mark Rupprecht. “Giving Spark Design its own identity provides us with a new way of helping our customers understand the resource available to them.”
The launch comes with a new name, tagline, logo and website for the firm that showcases its past projects and capabilities. In addition to interior design, the Spark team specializes in space planning, programming, project coordination and finish selections.
The origins of Spark Design go back to 2014, when Alissa Nelson was hired as R&R’s first in-house interior designer. With a background designing spaces for corporate, educational, medical and, during a stint with the Cessna Aircraft Company, commercial aviation customers, Nelson quickly advanced R&R’s interior design program while obtaining her National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). With this prestigious certification and more than a decade of experience, Nelson now leads Spark Design as the team’s Design Manager.
“Access to a complimentary interior design firm is a rare service for a commercial developer to offer,” said Nelson. “But it’s a critical one because a well-designed space is key to attracting and retaining top talent. Especially in a labor market that’s as competitive as the one we’re in right now.”
Additional team members include Amy Levenhagen and Olivia Kuhlemeier, designers who support the team’s daily projects and functions. Since beginning business operations as Spark Design earlier this year, the firm’s work has appeared in publications ranging from The Des Moines Register to Office Snapshots, a global office design resource website.
